| Dear Educators:
Imagine a place where history comes to life. A place where students are inspired to learn about the past in a way that sparks their creativity and motivates them to discover their world in ways they never before dreamed. Imagine a place that opens windows to the future by exploring the past. Welcome to Carillon Historical Park!
Carillon Historical Park is not your ordinary museum field trip destination. Situated on a beautiful 65-acre campus, the Park has 25 exhibit buildings that tell the many stories of the Miami Valleys history and culture. This open-air museum helps bring to life the many compelling stories that have shaped who we are today. From an original 1896 one-room schoolhouse, to a working 1930s print shop, to our world-class Wright Brothers Aviation Center that houses the original 1905 Wright Flyer, students will have the opportunity to become inspired by the innovative spirit of our past.
Whether you bring your students for a general tour of the exhibits in which our knowledgeable staff provides interactive presentations, or you participate in one of our special workshop programs, Carillon Historical Park offers a variety of unique educational opportunities designed to make history fun and exciting. The Park interprets over 200 years of history with educational programs that span a wide variety of topics from the Wright brothers and the invention of flight to the schoolhouse lessons from the 1890s to electricity to simple machines to code-breaking.
All of our workshops are designed around the academic content standards adopted by the Ohio State Board of Education and are an excellent way to prepare students for the concepts addressed by the Ohio Proficiency Tests. The workshops are taught by talented personnel, many of whom have an extensive amount of teaching experience in both traditional classrooms and in museum environments.
Let us motivate your inventors by introducing them to the two Dayton inventors who unraveled the mystery of flight. Let us inspire your dreamers by transporting them to another time and another way of life in a one-room schoolhouse. And let us encourage your thinkers by presenting them with some of the great achievements developed right here in Dayton, Ohio!
