Carillon Historical Park is pleased to announce that staring April 1, visitors can begin experiencing our regions history at the Park for the 2005 season. With the start of a new season, Carillon Historical Park has made it possible to experience history in a more innovative way with the addition of several new features. The new additions will also allow visitors to engage in our regions history at their own pace.
To gain a first-hand account of buildings such as the Dayton Cyclery or Corliss Engine Building, several historical figures will bring history to life for the Parks visitors through engaging audio-visual displays. Visitors will now have the opportunity to tour many historical buildings along with the digitally enhanced, historic characters.
The Park will also feature a 1910 Speedwell in the Atrium of the Kettering Family Education Center. The Speedwell is the only model 10 C Toy Tonneau in existence today. Visitors can visualize driving in an automobile that began production in 1907 with only 25 cars. The Speedwell production plant survived The Dayton Flood of 1913 and two years later, in 1915, due to losses in the flood halted the construction of Speedwells.
A new exhibit opening with the Park, Wow! I Didnt Know That About Sports in Dayton, will allow visitors to experience sports innovations that began in Dayton. Visitors can experience Daytons numerous athletic contributions.
Culps Café will also reopen on Friday, April 1, at 11:00 a.m. Culps Café allows visitors to experience dining in a 1930s-style restaurant. The café serves soups, salads, sandwiches and sundaes. Catering services are also available. Hours will include: Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 3:00 p.m.
