WEDDINGS AT CARILLON HISTORICAL PARK

Information and Rules

Carillon Historical Park is a non-profit, privately owned park. Donations and fees charged for special events support Carillon Historical Park's program of telling the history of the Miami Valley.

Scheduling and fees

The fee for having a wedding at the Deeds Carillon is $475 and is due when the signed contract is returned to the park. The reservation is held for one week to allow receipt of payment. Plan a reception at the Park - please contact Teresa Beachler at 293-2841, ext. 106 to schedule a memorable evening.

Two hours are allotted to each wedding, one hour prior to the time of the wedding and one hour after. This allows time for arrival of guests, the wedding, the receiving line and pictures. The wedding should begin promptly and end within the allotted time to avoid infringing on the next scheduled wedding. One hour will be scheduled the night before the wedding for a rehearsal. All in the wedding party should plan to attend.

The wedding

Weddings at the Deeds Carillon begin with a walk up the steps from the area on Carillon Boulevard. The wedding is held at the end of the walkway on the top step between the columns of the bell tower. The guests gather on the concrete apron which surrounds the tower. There is room for about 150-200 people to stand comfortably; less if chairs are used.

The area tends to be very windy at times so it is not possible to use arches, altars, aisle runners or any other decoration that would blow over or away. Heavy bottomed baskets of flowers or ferns work well if decorations are desired.

If the bells are played for the wedding, the carillonneur will begin playing fifteen minutes prior to the wedding. At the start of the wedding he will play for the bridesmaids, then the bridal march for the bride. He remains silent during the wedding then plays the recessional as the bride and groom are introduced and the wedding party departs down the walkway. The wedding party stands at the end of the walkway in a receiving line to allow the guests to greet them. The fee for the Carillon Bells Music is seperate from the wedding contract and payment must be made payable when booking the Carillonneur.
