Carillon Historical Park Presents
Miami Valley Sports History Exhibit

The Miami Valley Sports History Association, in conjunction with Carillon Historical Park, presents a temporary exhibit entitled, Wow! I Didn’t Know That About Sports in Dayton, which will run from April 1 to October 31, 2005. This exhibit celebrates the rich sports history of the Miami Valley. It will highlight the Miami Valley's teams, present individual athletic contributions to the region and display 20 different sports including baseball, football, basketball and golf. Some of the notable teams highlighted will be the Dayton Marcos of the Negro National League and the Dayton Triangles, one of the founding teams of the National Football League. In addition, the Soap Box Derby, which began in Dayton in 1934, will feature both a 1934 and a 1989 winning car.

The mission of The Miami Valley Sport History Association is to promote the sports heritage of Ohio's Miami Valley area. Formed three years ago, the association also co-sponsored the exhibit entitled, Saluting Miami Valley Olympians. The Miami Valley Sports History Association welcomes those who are interested in the history of sports in our area as new members.
