The Wright Brothers

Carillon Historical Park has one of the premier collections relating to Dayton’s own Wright brothers, including the original 1905 Wright Flyer III. The only airplane designated a National Historic Landmark, the1905 Flyer is the world’s first practical airplane. In the fall of 1905 Wilbur and Orville Wright piloted this airplane in record breaking flights at Huffman Prairie Flying Field just outside of Dayton

The Wright Brothers Camera

This camera belonging to the Wright brothers took one of the 20th century’s most famous photographs, the first flight at Kitty Hawk, December 17, 1903.
